North Conway Institute

North Conway Institute was founded in 1951 by the late Rev. David A. Works as a vehicle for shaping and creating policy concerning alcoholism. Paul C. Conley and Andrew A. Sorensen, wrote in their book, The Staggering Steeple, The Story of Alcoholism and the Churches, "NCI is largely responsible for bringing the combined approach of the AA tradition and the scientific-medical treatment method of alcoholism into the alcohol policies of the larger American church bodies." Today, NCI largely makes its impact through small grants that promote the Institutes's mission.

Their paid job program offers technology training, supplemented by individual guidance to help girls finish high school, go on to college, and launch their careers.
